DEB SMITH | bio
Mid-century modern homes, design, and fashion inform Deb Smith's artistic focus, in addition to photographing street art, urban ephemera, and queer spaces. With her wife, Deb has actively studied, toured and focused on preserving mid-century modern structures, while taking photographs of mid-century modern buildings around the country.
In 2020, Deb curated and showed her work at a major architectural photography show at the Neutra Gallery in Silver Lake, which featured works from photographers who specialized in the work of architect Richard Neutra and his son, Dion. In 2023, Deb and felt sculptor Linda Santiman collaborated on an extensive show at Bestor Architecture in Silver Lake, which paired Linda's handmade miniature felt houses with Deb’s architectural photos of similar homes.
Deb has curated and shown her work at several galleries in Los Angeles and Palm Springs, including the Makery Gallery, Pasadena Heritage, Janssen Gallery, UC Riverside Palm Desert, Stephen Baumbach Gallery, Kee Gallery, and a five-month solo exhibition at the Palm Springs Public Library.
