MICHAEL PATRICK THIEME | bio
I have painted acrylic on canvas since 2008. It was then that I first explored the idea of covering an entire canvas with individual and exact brushstrokes...one at a time. I call that concept PIXEL. Eventually I was curious about similarly covering canvas with painted lines, also individually. One at a time. These techniques or 'restrictions' as I sometimes refer them to, is meticulous and exacting work, both concepts create this amazing and inherent texture across the canvas.
Today, I continue to create new painting and drawing concepts, typically using repetitive techniques of lines, arcs or PIXELS.
I was raised outside of Chicago in Naperville. I studied architecture at the University Of Illinois. Urbana-Champaign where I was fortunate to be able to study 1 year abroad in Versailles, France. Upon graduating, I trained and practiced as an architect until 2008 when I then began putting my thoughts and ideas onto canvas. Currently I reside and paint in Las Vegas, NV.
